FirstSearch is a group of several different databases. While each
database has its own individual link, there is a general FirstSearch
link that allows for simultaneous searching of up to three databases
at a time. At the center of OCLC services is the WorldCat database
which is the most consulted database in higher education, holds
over 49 million cataloging records with a new record added every
12 seconds, spans over 4,000 years of recorded knowledge with 400
languages represented, and includes over 880 million location listings.
In addition, you may search general areas of subjects that include
the following: Arts and Humanities, Business and Economics, Conferences
and Proceedings, Consumer Affairs and People, Education, Engineering
and Technology, General, General Science, Life Sciences, Medicine/Health-Consumer,
Medicine/Health-Professional, News and Current Events, Public Affairs
and Law, and Social Sciences.
